Since its inception, the house of Cartier has been building the most exquisite jewels and, later, timepieces, to capture hearts and souls of women and men alike. The brand has long always focused on craftsmanship and innovation. For the past years, it has been a power-house in the realm of mechanical watchmaking, bringing its own in-house watch movement development to new heights and regularly unveiling new calibers in complications that make it a true contender in the world of high watchmaking.
Such is the case with this year’s Calibre de Cartier Multi-time zone (or Multifuseaux) watch. It was first unveiled in Geneva at the SIHH in January, but it was only recently that I got the opportunity to really have some time with this watch and to enjoy its beauty, its wonderfully cool new 
function, and its great ease of use. It is offered in 18-karat white or 18-karat rose gold, but I show it here in 18-karat rose gold. The watch, sleek yet bold, houses the 287-part Caliber 9909MC and offers home time, travel time, day/night indications, and –the unique new feature developed in house by Cartier — the difference between the two selected time zones. Until now, no other watch has offered such a feature. It is amazingly easy to use; by pressing a pivoting pushpiece, the wearer can view a different time zone city on an integrated city disc with city names on the side of the watch. On the dial, the wearer can view the second time zone, the local time and the time difference between that home time and the local traveler time. It keeps the dial clean, well-balanced and easy to read thanks to an uncluttered appeal. The pushers are easy to maneuver and there is nothing tricky about the watch at all – except, of course, the mechanics that went into the design, development and the actual making of it! The 18-karat rose gold version with its dark gray dial retails is a very worldly watch to wear – making one feel quietly confident – for a smart price of $39,300.
