Time Capsules: Product – Jaeger-LeCoultre Spreads Unveils the Duomètre Quantième Lunaire

With 178 years of technical prowess, heritage and craftsmanship extraordinaire behind it, Jaeger-LeCoultre ought to know how to show off its unprecedented precision with dignity. Thus, it comes as no surprise that its newest Duometre (dual-wing movement)  Quantieme Lunaire, which shows time, date and the age of the moon – is a stunning beauty.

It embodies the latest horological achievements from Jaeger-LeCoultre:   time with a jumping seconds hand showing 1/6th of a second increments; date and age of the moon in a separate sub dial. The exceptional feat here, however, is that it is all within the Dual-Wing movement concept, which features two independent power supplies: one entirely dedicated to creating a perfect timing foundation (regulated by escapement and balance), the other   for the display of time (hour, minute and seconds hands) and for the date and the age of the moon for the Northern as well as the Southern hemispheres.

The mechanical manually-wound Jaeger-LeCoultre Calibre 381, crafted, assembled and decorated by hand, beats at  21,600 vibrations per hour. It offers  50 hours of power reserve and consists of  369 parts, including  40 jewels and two independent barrels. The 18-karat gold watch is created in a limited series of 200 pieces, each retailing for $41,400.
