Video: Guy Semon Explains The Evolution of TAG Heuer Chronograph Technology

By Jonathan Bues, IW Magazine

On Wednesday,  the editors of International Watch [for whom the founder of Atimelyperspective writes], met with Guy Semon, Vice President of Sciences and Technology at TAG Heuer, who was in New York to show the press his firm’s new Microgirder 2000 chronograph, unveiled in Geneva last month.

Semon, a former academic, is easily one of the brightest minds in contemporary horology, and brings the viewpoint of a scientist to the problems facing high-end mechanical watchmaking. Since joining TAG Heuer, he has helped the Chaux-de-Fonds-based firm overcome many technical hurdles on the way to developing lightning-fast chronograph oscillators.

While we were meeting with Mr. Semon, he was kind enough to explain three recent chronograph concept watches—the Mikrograph, the Mikrotimer Flying 1000, and the newly unveiled Mikrogirder, which uses a completely original method for measuring timed events. Enjoy. (Video courtesy of IW)
