Time Capsules: Urwerk Unveils the Torpedo Champagne – Let’s Toast to that!

Urwerk, an independent watch brand we’ve talked about here for its wonderful innovative looks and technology, has done it again – breaking out the hot new UR-110 ZrN Torpedo timepiece – in an edition of just 12 special pieces. The new Urwerk watch is built of high-tech materials indicative of only the most avant-garde watchmakers of today: Grade 5 titanium, with a bezel in 316L sandblasted stainless steel treated with Zirconium Nitride for a great frosted champagne color.  This is definitely a watch to toast to, with its complex caliber movement, superb craftsmanship, and luscious looks. The  47x51x15mm watch houses the UR 9.01 self-winding caliber with a mono-metallic balance. It features revolving satellite complication for which Urwerk is so renowned. These revolving satellite cubes offer rotting hour and minute modules    mounted on planetary gears. There is also a day/night indicator and an “oil change” (service) indicator. The watch is powered by dual turbines that are visible from the transparent caseback.  Numerals are SuperLuminova treated, for easy readability, even when under the influence of champagne – or in the dark.
